Beginning Photography Tips – A Few Basic Tips For Taking Digital Photography

My first tip for taking digital photography for anyone whether they are beginning, or have some degree of experience is “don’t be frightened of your camera”. Get used to handling your camera so that you feel comfortable with it. Make sure you know where all the controls are, and familiarise yourself with their functions. This is one of the basic beginning photography tips that often gets overlooked as it is such an obvious one.
Once you are comfortable handling your digital camera and have learned how to use all the controls and functions, my next tip for taking digital photography is to take lots and lots of pictures. The beauty of digital photography is that you do not need to keep every picture that you take. You are not paying for a long processing sequence like you would be if you were using a camera that uses rolls of film, so you can be a lot more extravagant when it comes to taking pictures. Plus you may just take a prize winning photo purely by chance, and any photos you don’t want you can simply delete.
Another of the basic beginning photography tips that people often forget is to hold the camera steady. Again this may sound pretty obvious but it’s surprising just how many of us forget this simple little tip when we rush to get a good photo. It is important to actually practice holding the camera so that you automatically steady it for every picture that you take. How often have you seen the chance of a great picture only to rush it and ruin the shot? It’s far better to get one or two great pictures than dozens of blurred or poor quality ones.
My next tip is to always make sure that you have enough memory capacity on your digital camera. There is nothing worse than coming across something that would make a great picture only to find that you have no more room on your camera. Get into the habit of going through the photos stored on your camera on a regular basis, and deleting the ones you don’t want, and downloading and storing the ones you do want onto your computer, or have them printed off. Also buy a second card for your camera so that you always have a spare one with you just in case you need it.
Once you have got this far you should have loads of photos that you have taken, now is the time to study these and see if there is room for improvement. Maybe some of them are still coming out slightly blurred, so you will need to pay attention to your focusing. Remember that a digital camera has a tendency to take a little longer to focus when compared to a camera that uses roll film.
Maybe you are not happy with the lighting on some of your pictures, so try practising using the flash. The flash on a camera is not only designed to be used when taking photos indoors, it is also great for getting good sharp pictures outside as well, especially if the subject is in shade or if the natural light is low, like in the late evening.
I suppose that one of the most important beginning photography tips that I can give you is to “get out there and have some fun with your camera”. Take loads of photos and practice as you go. Use your camera as often and as much as you can. My last little tip would to be to get hold of a good book on digital photography, this way you will get all the tips for taking digital photography and learn all the usual mistakes to avoid right from the start.

The digital revolution has made amateur photography more popular than ever before. The days of Fuji film and print processing have been replaced with talk of mega-pixels and memory cards. With hundreds of cheap digital cameras on the market, it’s possible for anyone with a good eye for photography yet little practical knowledge of the mechanics of cameras, to capture great shots with simple “point and shoot” digital models.
For some, a love of photography can turn into a profession. If you’re looking to take your photography to the next level, it’s a good idea to first build up a portfolio of work, and then submit your work to the many dedicated photography websites or competitions. There are hundreds of amateur photography forums and websites where members can submit their work for critical appraisal by other members. Such websites also offer advice and tips on photography techniques.
Another way to get recognition and even payment for your photographs is to submit your shots to magazines. Either choose a general photography magazine to do this, or try specialist consumer magazines. For example, if you are a keen skier, submit your ski shots to a winter sports magazine; or if you enjoy fishing, try an angling magazine. Local papers are also a good place to submit photos, as they are often on the lookout for pictures to accompany their stories.
When submitting your photography to magazines, it’s important to remember that photography is an extremely competitive field and that you will be up against professionals. Therefore, don’t get disheartened if your shots aren’t accepted at first – just keep on shooting and continue submitting; in the world of photography, persistence pays.
Amateur photography competitions are another great way of getting your photography seen, and can win you fans, prizes and even commissions or customers. A good idea is to start small; your local photography club will probably hold various contests; also keep an eye out for other competitions that are within your field of expertise. There are hundreds to enter, and they tend to have set themes – covering everything from travel to sports, nature to nautical and portrait to planes.
The ‘Million Places on Earth’ competition, for example, is offering a top prize of one million dollars for unique location images from anywhere in the world. Other competitions include Embassy Suite Hotels ‘Happiness in Motion’ competition, which carries an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii as their top prize; while UKplus are also holding an online photography competition with a top prize of £1000 for photographs taken within the UK.
Whether it’s for fun, glory, or perhaps a new career path, photography is an extremely rewarding hobby. And you never know – you might just see your picture on the cover of National Geographic one day!

First of all, before we get into the ‘meat of the matter’ I would like to ask you one question.
Are you sure you want a job in digital photography?
Often that means taking pictures for people, websites, magazines and so on. If I was you, I would rather work from home and submit my digital photos to the web and get paid to do so.
Yes, that is possible, and here’s a cold, hard fact for you: people are making six figure incomes doing this. Doing something they love to do.
The system is based on submitting pictures to the web, to certain websites actually (sorry, I’m not legally allowed to reveal them just yet!) and when people browse these websites and come across your photo and decide to download it, you get paid every time your picture gets downloaded.
It’s very simple, there are even techniques to maximize income from this and get more people to download your photos, and the photos don’t even have to be of a professional quality, amateur photographers get paid very well too.
In the beginning I was also interested in Digital Photography Jobs, but when I came across this solution which allowed me to “work” from home and make more money than I would do at any job, then I mere thought of a job ceased to exist in my mind.
So basically, this is an opportunity for anyone with a camera to make money online and improve the quality of their lives with a good income.

Edit Digital Photos – Overflowing With Digital Photography Info

The editing programs today can do wonders to images. One of the most popular programs is Adobe PhotoShop, since this editing program is one of the most sophisticated tools. Most pro photographers will use this program, since you can create websites, book covers, images, movies, and more. Adobe is also used to design manuals, graphics, commercials, fliers, and more. This particular program I miss. I lost my copy during a severe virus attack, and the downside is it costs around $1000 to $1500 to replace. Outside of lightning effects, you can also setup brick backgrounds, or whatever background you choose. If you own this program you know what I am talking about, however if you have never had the experience and can get the opportunity to try out Adobe I promise you will have loads of fun. A common misconception is that Gimp lacks many more features that Photoshop has. In fact, with the exception of features that depend on patented algorithms, Gimp is 99% on par with Photoshop in capabilities. It’s just that Photoshop users try Gimp, are immediately lost in the baroque interface, and leave in terror. Having the features doesn’t do you much good if you can’t find them! The real hanger is the user interface.

Auto focus on your digital camera may not always produce the best results as it can sometimes be fooled. In these cases use aperture priority mode, and set an aperture of 8 or higher to ensure that your entire photo is sharp. When you increase the aperture your camera compensates with a slower shutter speed, so remember to use a tripod.
When it comes to exporting its images, Photoshop allows seamless program shifts among other Adobe software used in image editing, authoring and animation such as Adobe Illustrator, ImageReady and After Effects. Photoshop files (.PSD or Photoshop document format) may be manipulated to produce special effects such as adding textures and changing backgrounds. Non-linear editing is also a breeze. Another advantage of Photoshop is that it can work with several color models such as RGB, CMYK, Lab, Bitmap, Duotone and Grayscale. This allows any user a lot of flexibility in terms of image editing, giving him the power to play with every type of photo image there is. The newest version of Photoshop is v. 10, also known as CS3. It’s integrated with Adobe Creative Suite, hence the ‘CS’. The most popular, though is the CS2 which was made available in 2005. It has successfully integrated new tools and former plugins like color replacement, warping and multiple-layer select.
If you think that you will be using a lot of photoshop and will are a hobbiest with the photoshop, then photoshop elements will be right for you. Save you money up and get it because it has more options than the Photoshop CS has. Tip: To make the color selection more precise, press CapsLock on the keyboard and the Eyedropper will turn into a target so that you can collect one exact pixel of a picture. Eyedropper is a very simple and useful tool to use and will help you with your every day editing of pictures.
Filters will allow you to be able to apply different feelings to a picture. By applying different filters, you can change the color of an image to a single one, converted it to black and white or a sepia tone. The possibilities for adding and varying creative filter effects are virtually endless. To change the intensity of a filter, some programs let you “fade” the effect directly after it is applied. If you use layers, the transparency of the layer where the filter was applied can be reduced.

Digital Photography Tips – Don’t Be Afraid to Try WordPress For Your Photo Blog

Despite what many people might think, you really don’t need to spend thousands of dollars setting up your digital photography niche blog (or photo site/website – we mean the same thing here). It can be easily accomplished at a mere fraction of that by using WordPress, and we’ll show you how to do that in this article.
You may also have been thinking that you need to have your digital photography portfolio on show at all times too. This is a nice idea… but I’ve found that it’s much more beneficial to post fresh content to your blog often enough, so that the search engines discover you and reward you with good regular visitors (traffic) through to your blog.
To see what I mean, next time, before you jump online, ask yourself ‘what is it I want to learn?’ What am I looking for? I guarantee that you’ll be going online to find helpful information. And maybe great images too. Of course, when you discover great images, you like to read about ‘how’ the images were made, right?
What I’m trying to say here is that writing good content will be the lifeblood of your blog. This will make or break it. Focus on writing good content and you will have it made. You can always add images to this mix at a later stage.
Now, onwards and let’s set up your blog. A recommendation, in this case, is to use the free WordPress.org to create your blog. Wordpress allows you zillions of templates, add ons and plugins, is a very low cost way to build a website. Not to mention that they also have fabulous support forums where you’ll find hundreds of enthusiastic users who can be very helpful to your cause.
You could also use blogger.com, or even squidoo.com if you were hard pressed. With a little online exploration, I’m sure that you’d find other blogging platforms available too.
However once you’ve discovered WordPress you won’t have eyes for anything else. You’ll just want to keep learning and fit all the pieces together to discover how it works. In a nutshell you now need to search for the right WordPress template to use – and there’s hundreds of these available too, so set aside some time for this. (You can always change themes as you go, but try searching for ‘wordpress themes’ for starters).
Of course, there’s a lot more to it than what I’ve attempted to lay out here. But at the core is finding a good theme and starting to post (write) your ideas out, with some sort of regularity. And so if there’s any digital photography tips I can give, it’s just this – start with WordPress, focus on creating great content, and don’t spend thousands on a photo website until you truly know how great WordPress can be.

I had the G11 for about a month before I bought this. This screen cover works nicely to protect the screen. It doesn’t distort the view. I ordered two of them so I have one to replace the other when it gets dirty or scratched.
I have scratched screens before and although you can deal with it, it does get annoying over time. This is a nice quick protective addition to an expensive powerful point and shoot camera.
Very easy to put on. There is some slight peal up on the edges but overall it works very nicely(this is only a problem for extreamly picky people). I only notice the pealing when the camera is off. See customer photos.

Product arrived in a timely manner. Unfortunately it is not the product that was promised in the advertisement. It is TOO SMALL to cover the Canon G11 LCD screen. Therefore it is of little use to me. Seller (Lexerd) has not responded to multiple telephone calls and a written (email) complaint. I wish that I wasn’t the first one (i.e.; guinea pig). I won’t let it happen again, especially with Lexerd!

Is Digital Photography Better Than Film?

Digital cameras have revolutionised photography, with a whole generation of new photographers inspired to take up taking photos. The economy and convenience of digital photography is wonderful, but the question is still asked. Which is better: film or digital?
I use film, but if someone asks me whether they should buy a film camera or a digital camera, I almost always recommend digital. The answer is not so simple if someone asks me which is ‘better’ – film or digital?
The answer comes down what you mean by ‘better.’ Photography is many things to many people, so the merits of the medium depends on what you expect to get out of it.
In my business (a nature photography gallery), the single most important criteria is the quality of the printed photograph. For me, film still provides superior quality enlargements, even though darkroom printing has all but died out. These days, I get a high-resolution scan from the original film, and print my photos digitally. This process gives me a better quality enlargement than a print from a digital camera. I am talking about BIG enlargements here – A2 and sometimes larger.
So why do I recommend others to switch to digital photography (if they haven’t already)? Simply because not many people make their living selling framed photographs. Let’s face it, how many of us will ever print a photo larger than 8×12 inch (20×30cm)?
These days, in fact, how many of us ever get around to printing our photos at all? The day of the photo album has passed. Today most photos will only ever exist as digital files. We can share them in emails, insert them into websites, use them as screensavers…for many people the idea of actually printing a photo is little more than a novelty.
So in the age of digital photography, what does film has to offer? Well, not much, except for the high cost of developing and printing (don’t forget you have to pay for each exposure, even the bad ones). Then there is the long delay between taking the photo and seeing the result. Finally, if you want to use your photo for any practical purpose, you will probably have to scan it to turn it into a digital file anyway.
So, is digital photography ‘better’ than film photography? In the modern world, which demands speed and convenience, yes. With your digital camera you can take all the photos you like at no real cost, and see the results instantly. You don’t have to pay to print photos you don’t want, and you can simply delete your unsuccessful images from your camera.
That’s not to say digital photography is perfect; far from it. I have already mentioned that your digital files are not as good as film for very big enlargements, but there is more to it than that. The quality of a digital print is a little ‘flatter’ than a photo printed from film. It may have plenty of colour and detail, but in ways that are hard to explain, it lacks the illusion of three-dimensional real life that you can get from film.
In the past, most digital photographers would laugh at me for suggesting such a thing. I suspect that was because after investing a small fortune in their new technological treasure, they were reluctant to admit that their new toy was not perfect in every way. Today, however, even the most devoted digital disciple seems ready to admit that the digital revolution, for all its advantages, has lead to compromises in quality.
Is there a solution? Of course there is, and it is called software. Whichever editing program you use, it is quite easy to ‘tweak’ your photos to a standard that is as rich and three dimensional as a photo printed from film. These programs have become a fact of life for many photographers, but not everyone likes to use them or even knows how to. Then there are the grumpy old purists (like me) who feel that a well-exposed photo should not require enhancement to bring it up to standard.
So where does all this leave us? Is digital better than film? For my purposes, no. For your purposes, most likely yes. If your priority is not large, high quality prints, there is really very little reason to stick with film (other than nostalgia).
If you are shopping for a camera (SLR or compact), make it a digital. Just as important, take the time to learn how to use it. Photography is still about focus, aperture, shutter speed, composition and lighting. The digital vs. film debate means nothing if your camera is always switched to auto for taking snapshots. Oh, and get to know your computer…you’re going to need it.

I had to send back the first, because the VC did not work and would lock up my camera functions. Obviously, this is a mysterious problem with this lens and the Nikon D700, and that there is no correlation between the serial numbers, etc. These are not brand Nikon lenses, there is not much help, of course, the answers or why this is happening or what can fix the problem. The D700 simply do not like the lenses to certain provisions of this model. I tried on my film camera Nikon N65, and everything seemed to workFine. Amazon sent me a new one within three days, and I did before I had time to get mail from the "broken", has done work on my D700 had! Great service, among other things! The 2nd one works and I like to use it for several months.
Nice contrast, sharpness, and only some scrap. I will say the only drawback is speed. # 1 It takes a while 'for the auto focus on my D700 working in low light, even with the annoying light on the media gravityCamera. # 2 The Aperture 3.5 is available only when it is 28 millimeters, so that limit your range of creative control. Because of these two factors, this is not the most low light / indoor / available light lens, especially if you want everything to be moved fired. Vibration Control helps a bit, 'so we thought about 1 stop at the beginning of the hand. If you have a fast and very low light lens with the first Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon digital SLR and 50 mm Nikon going f/1.4GPrime SIC S Nikkor Lens for Nikon digital SLR.

I am disappointed with the lens. I was looking for something that would be lightweight and versatile. This target does not produce sharp images, especially when using the zoom. The images seem to have been extended if Photoshop. I tried different settings, including turning the VR off, with the camera on a tripod. The depth seems to be a flap. It 'too shallow, so that you are not even a picture of a face, without some parts of the face ofFocus (blurred). Even if you do not have the range of the Tamron lens, I go back to the original Nikon 70-200 lens. At least I know that the images will be sharp enough, with the objective Nikon.

The characteristics and dimensions of this lens is excellent, especially the wide zoom range (though a zoom actually a little 'less than 300 millimeters) and stabilization. The clarity, even if it was not good, pretty close to a Canon 300mm f / 4 L IS, so it is functional.
And stabilization, although very effective, not after a few applications.
So he returned to Amazon, which has a very convenient system back.

You seldom hear about the losers, if the members of the group on their chat unsuccesses Crow. However, that boasts such artists as few photographers or their lack of sales.
The parallel is like the other casinos around the country appears not only in places, but also in relation multiplied by the physical size. If younever visit a casino, you will be surprised to see how the system increased.
On-line photo-display Web pages have the same on the Internet has shown strong growth. Not only the sites themselves are increasing, but the number of images that are available is growing. Can the world of server storage today the management of this type the number of images? If not, today we know that somehow in some way, find a way, tomorrow, the nature of the expanding needs of digital casino.
